Dolly Back Pack Tutorial with Alida Makes

Hey y’all!  I’m so excited to be here sharing a dolly project today!  Sunday on Alida Makes I shared with you how I made Ellie’s Toddler Backpack and today I’m going to show you how to make a dolly version.  This backpack will fit many different kinds of dolls because the straps are elastic.  And, since I know you’re going to ask, Ellie’s beautiful dolly is a 12″ Waldorf doll from Handmaiden Canada :-).

Let’s get sewing!

 You’ll Need:

First fold the outer fabric as shown:

Ok, the elastic above is sewn incorrectly.  The top sides of the elastic should be closer together, because if they are this far apart they won’t stay on.  Oops!

See how the elastic is sewn so the stitches are hidden?

And that’s it!  Now put it on your dolly and she’ll be ready for anything!

Ellie’s backpack carries her Epipen, Benadryl, and an allergy safe snack.  Her dolly’s backpack carries a small pretend Epipen, in case she comes in contact with unicorn dust (her allergy!)
As you can see, she loves her dolly, her backpack, and her dolly backpack!  Visit me at Alida Makes to find the tutorial for the toddler backpack, or just to say hi!

Thanks so much for stopping by Alida! Make sure you swing by her blog for lots more fun :)

That is super cute! I might have to make these for my boy and his bear he takes everywhere. I love that you’ve made it fun for her to carry those things she needs to always have with her – and gave her dolly an epi-pen too (unicorn dust – that’s awesome! lol!).
